Captain’s main editing machine has always been a pair of Macbook Pro 15” laptops (always one in backup in case of loss or damage). 16Gb RAM minimum, 500Gb SSD

Main editing drive is typically a Seagate 4Tb portable.. I edit on portable drives so that if there is a power interruption your work is not lost and editing continues under laptop battery power

This little drive is fully SSD (no moving parts), so very efficient and very fast.. a great drive for editing your current project with as much speed as possible at affordable cost.

 Something you will never want to be without on a boat is a good Dremel tool or similar. With less expensive ones its easy to keep several on hand for any emergency.. when nothing else will fix it, break out the Dremel.

We are fast discovering the benefits of vacuum containers for long term storage onboard.. everything from rice, pasta, and beans, to engine spare parts to keep them out of salt air until needed.

 I’ve had many corkscrews over the years for opening my favourite bottle of wine at the end of the day.. this one is awesome and even comes in a full gift kit.

 There is one thing you will use every week if you live aboard and need to provision.. a portable folding shopping cart. We have tried them all, this one is the Mack Daddy.. might take up a bit of space, but worth its weight in gold for convenience when shopping.
